Our new home base in Kapa'a is perfect for the two of us on our last few days in Kauai.
Yesterday, we went to Poipu to check out the Beach House Restaurantstaurant that was highly recommended...the setting was spectacular! It must be the most beautiful view in Kauai!!! While sitting there enjoying the view and watching the surfers,I said to Norm that there was a strong surfer who has the same surfing style as Bethany Hamilton, the girl who was attacked by a shark and lost her arm a few years ago. A while later Bethany walked past us...it was hard not to stare but others were doing the same and whispering 'it is her!'
We had another snack for lunch with my friend Lynda and her husband Jim. They live in Ithaca. We went a long way to see each other. We had lunch at Benneches and then picked up their luggage from the villa they rented for their family reunion. We should rent such a villa for our next function. It was luxurious and it was affordable....a short walk to the beach. We drove them to the airport. Onrour return we had a message from B&J urging us to go to Oasis during happy hour to see Aldrine Guerrero, an incredible ukulele player we had the honour of witnessing play the first day we were here. He was the judge at the children's ukulele competition that we all went to see thanks to Alice.
We were back too late to catch his show. So we thought we'd walk over to check out the venue and to our surprise, he was still there packing up. We were so thrilled to meet him. We hope to catch another one of his performances tomorrow...he is a very nice person! 2 celebrities in one day!
Today, we went to the farmers market right here outside our resort. We bought fresh mangoes and Apple bananas and headed out to Princeville on the north shore. We also wanted to see the Queens Bath but couldn't find it.We asked a couple of people and they could not or would not tell us how to find it. the last girl told us she used to live next to it and saw too many body bags. Many died falling from the trail, drowned or were sucked out to the ocean. She did not feel right telling us where it was. That was just fine with us. So we headed to Anini Beach to snorkel and relax.
On our way home, we stopped by 'the common ground' an organic cafeteria-like outdoor restaurant. The food was delicious and we felt we ate well for at least one meal. Norms has been suffering with a gastro intestinal problem for the last couple of days.
This evening we went to Wahoo for dinner and jazz...Ramzi, you'd have so much fun with these names...
Ok adding star struck dorky picture of me with our ukulele superstar...Aldrine Guerrero and that's Aaron Nikimata.(close)
Speaking of names, it's nice to see Mary again.
