We had a wonderful few days enjoying our cute grandchildren.
We had a chance to get to know their personalities and their likes and dislikes.
Isla and Kingston are both brilliant, articulate and they both have a great sense of humour.
We hadn't seen them in a year and the growth is unbelievable!
Isla speaks in full sentences. She told me today ' I'm not ready' when I asked her if she was ready for bed. She said to her brother 'no bouncing in my house' ,'don't throw it too high'. We will never worry about her standing up for herself. Kingston is a profound, humble young man who is an excellent problem solver. They are always listening and aware of adult conversations...they have surpassed us on many occasions.
Through our time here, we have taken the children to the public library, the Novato farmers market and the Exploratorium at pier 17. we've lost and found things....
An important cheque was missing. Mom and dad were out so gramma and grampa and Kingston searched for it all over the house while isla sat observing all the commotion. After a whole half hour, grampa found it folded up in four under the door to the garage. Noone took responsibility for it. Who could possibly fold a cheque in four? It couldn't be tasso...mhmmm...Kingston's skills are more sophisticated than the crude folding...can isla fold that well for a two year old. When mom and dad came home they suspected it could have been isla she was so adorable calmly watching the chaotic search.
My toothbrush went missing last night...it was an uncomfortable's night sleep not brushing. I thought I'd buy one in the morning and ask Dale if isla or Kingston might have played with it...no..neither one had...it was sitting in my toilets bag on the counter. Halfway through the day, norm said he found a toothbrush in the middle of the backyard...Tasso!!!!
I fell two steps into the garage and thought my ankle would be sprained for the continuation of our road trip adventure. Survived that one thankfully.
We had two wonderful adult dinner dates..Norm and I ventured on market street to find the top rated 'sushi zone' restaurant...past the tenderloin...a sketchy area...We felt adventurous and walked a half hour out to try to find it. It was a tiny whole in the wall with a line up waiting for it to open at 5...it was excellent. We left in daylight and returned to the hustle and bustle of the touristy area. The other evening Dale and Matt took us out to Fairfax, a really funky, New age California town...Sorella is an Italian restaurant with charming atmosphere. We enjoyed the delicious cuisine and the fun company. On or last day,w were lucky enough to celebrate Mr. Kingston's birthday a little early. It was so nice to be with him in person instead of skyping. What a wonderful week!
Dreading leaving tomorrow...it will be so difficult....the good thing is, they're planning to come home for Christmas!!!
Ok...we're driving to Oakland and leaving our car there for two weeks in a hotel parking lot....Will it survive? Don't want to read reviews on the safety of Oakland until we're back and our car is safe and sound.
