EurekA!

After refueling at the village bean, the quaint coffee shop in Oregon, we drove in the fog past what we believed, were spectacular vistas...We were right...when the fog lifted in the afternoon, we were awestruck by the beauty of the ocean, the cliffs and winding roads. The drive was like a thrilling roller coaster ride.It was so frightening and exciting!
We stopped at Coos Bay to have lunch and explore. We ate at Sharkbites...Norm had a burger and I had grilled oysters. It was so delectable and the server was so helpful, that i wrote a review on trip advisor. Coos bay was not what we had hoped, it was to industrial. So we headed towards Brookings, Oregon. The drive was humbling. We drove past massive sand dunes and through the start of the Redwood Forest at the entrance of California.
We arrived in Eureka, California around 9 last night...it looked like a Victorian ghost town.We turned the corner and there was a vacancy sign at the Eagle Inn! We felt like we were in another dimension, the twilight zone. A cute, bizarre woman, welcomed us and showed us around the eerie yet charming Victorian hotel. Loved all the nooks and crannies. We saved $ and added adventure by not going to the best western plus with hot tub etc.
From our elevated bed, we had a beautiful view of the sunset over the bay...We went out to get some food and explore. Noone was serving food at that hour...We made it under the wire at a mexican restaurant across the street after we checked the whole of ' Old TOwn' and shared some guacamole, salsa and chips.
We decided to stay two nights since it was a good deal and we were ahead of schedule...it was an exceptionally long drive...I was getting 'bug' fever! We both wanted and needed a rest from driving.
We slept in and rested and explored.
They served coffee and fruit at the hotel for breakfast. We browsed in a lovely bookshop and had lunch at 'Cafe nooner' Through our wandering around town, all we saw were sketchy people and in ' cafe nooner' , in walked the California nuts and berries folks. The artsy people came out of the woodwork. Loved the atmosphere and food.  By the way 'tri-tip' is the leg a cow....needed protein.
We love being together but we each enjoyed some solitary time. Norm read, while I indulged in a 30 minute Chinese foot reflexology.
More reading and relaxing, then a walk to the boardwalk and dinner at a so so Italian restaurant. And early to bed to get ready for the second highlight and destination of our road trip...seeing our Dale and her beautiful family!!! INSHALLAH!!!We are so happy to get to see her two days ahead of schedule!!! :-)
